Volunteers Are an Important Part of BCPL

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old or in the 8th grade. Exceptions may be made for students under age 14 who work as Summer @ Your Library volunteers. We accept volunteers for these functions:

  • TWorking with a student in the libraryhe Friends: Branch Support Groups are important volunteer support groups for Baltimore County Public Library. They provide community outreach for specific branches and advocacy for their neighborhood branch. They organize fundraising events and bring additional talent, expertise, and financial support to their community branch. Not all branches have friends groups.  For more information or to get involved, contact your local Friends: Branch Support Group.

  • Summer @ Your Library volunteers are students entering grades 7 to 10 in fall 2017.  They help promote the program, sign-up children and give out stickers and prizes, and more. Volunteer application packets will be available for pickup at the Information Desk at the branch where the volunteer wants to work from Monday, April 10, 2017 until Sunday, April 23, 2017. Applications must be turned in by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017. There are a limited number of volunteer positions and they fill quickly. Apply early! Find out more...

NOTE: The Randallstown Branch will not need volunteers this summer. Please consider volunteering at the Owings Mills, Pikesville, Reisterstown, or Woodlawn Branches.

  • Branch-specific assignments are sometimes available at individual branches. To verify that a volunteer opportunity is available, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the library branch where you would like to work. The branches cannot guarantee that there will be work available at all times and are under no obligation to accept volunteers.
